Compaq Presario 1200

Recently, I resurrected an ancient laptop, a Compaq Presario 1200.  These laptops were produced between 1998 and 2000, and they shipped with only 64mb of RAM, a 500Mhz processor, and Windows 98SE.  When I received the laptop, it took ages to boot, but after fixing it up the pc boots in just 60 seconds and shuts down in 18.  I added the maximum amount of RAM, installed a faster version of Windows XP Professional which I optimized even further, and equipped it with wireless internet capabilities.  My clients now have a modest work station with all their required programs and application for their business.

Updates

I’ve been pretty busy lately with school and different computer jobs so I wanted to update the site with some cool projects I’ve been working on.

• A HTPC almost Identical to mine
• New budget build for the office ($400, specs: intel duo 2.0, 2gb ram, 250gb hdd, dvd burner, card reader)
• installed windows 7 rc on two Asus EEE Pcs
• Repairing an older dell laptop with a bad hard drive
• Upgraded an old PC w/ a new motherboard, cpu, and ram
• Installed a lot of software for clients
• Working on a MINI-ITX build (10” x 10” x 5”)  (will post w/ some pictures later)

HTPC

Im going to be building myself a HTPC (home theatre pc) soon.  Basicly its a computer attached to my tv to serve as my main entertainment unit delivering live and recorded tv, movies (dvd, internet streaming, and digital), internet browser, plus everything else you can do with a computer, but from the couch.  The specs are...

Asus EEE PC 1000HE Netbook

I recently bought Asus' new model netbook the 1000HE.  Its a great little machine perfect for school and carrying around the house.  I wiped the hard drive right when I got it and installed the windows 7 rc.  The specs are: dual core 1.66Ghz atom processor, 2gb ram, 160gb hdd, 10in screen, 3lbs
